A Black Tie Affair Celebrates Youth with Chante' Moore, Thomas Howard, and Danny Glover
May 7th, 2011 atop the beautiful Kaiser Rooftop Garden, come enjoy an elegant evening of hors d'oeuvres, entertainment, and fashion. The Bay Area is a very diverse and rich cultural environment that cares for those in need. Oakland’s best and brightest will gather in celebration at the 1st annual A Black Tie Affair: An Evening in the Secret Garden. The Black Tie Affair promises to be an interdisciplinary event honoring Bay Area entrepreneurs and non-profit organizations.
Performances from Jazz artist, Raja Rahim, Pop sensation, Tessa Evans, the Full House Band, and R&B singer LB Muzac, will honor the services of Oakland Vice-Mayor, Desley Brooks. The grand finale showcases the talents of the Mario B. Youth Fashion Program, and includes songs from the Grammy–nominated singer, Chante’ Moore, greetings from NFL Player Thomas Howard and other players, and a presentation of Organo Coffee by actor and activist, Danny Glover-all to benefit First Place For Youth, an agency that assists young adults transitioning into adulthood with support services before and after emancipation, and today is considered a national model for providing permanent housing for high risk youth.
A Black Tie Affair was established by Mario B Productions with the purpose to empower and showcase California’s youth, while assisting those joining the educational and working community. The program takes a “New Breed” approach to the fashion industry by introducing a unique performance style called “Theatrical Modeling”, combining dance, fashion and theater, to create a contemporary approach to modeling.
